Please call experienced greater Baltimore plastic surgeon Dr. Adam L. Basner at 410-616-3000 to schedule a cosmetic consultation. He will answer all of your questions during your one-on-one appointment with him.
Some frequently asked questions about breast augmentation include:
Am I a good candidate for breast enlargement?
Good candidates for breast augmentation want to increase the size and improve the overall appearance of their breasts. If you are unhappy with your current breast volume and shape, then you are probably a good candidate for this procedure. The only way to know for sure is to visit Dr. Basner for your cosmetic consultation.
Where are the breast implants placed?
Breast implants are placed within the breast pocket, and can be placed either in front of the chest muscle or behind. There are various things to consider when choosing above or below muscle placement, and Dr. Basner will help you decide which one will provide the results you want.
What are the options associated with breast implants?
Breast implant type (saline or silicone), size and shape are all options you will choose from. Dr. Basner will recommend the options he thinks will produce the final results you want, and then you can choose the features you decide are right for you.
Does the procedure leave scars?
Yes, the breast augmentation procedure does leave scars where the incisions are made. Dr. Basner has the experience needed to make these incisions as minimal and inconspicuous as possible, but you should expect to have scarring. Depending on the incision location you choose, your scars will appear in the fold beneath your breast, around the areola, or in the underarm. All of these incisions can generally be well hidden beneath clothes, lingerie and swimsuits.
What are the associated risks?
Just like other surgical procedures, breast augmentation does carry the risk of certain complications. When you visit us for a consultation, we'll make sure you know each and every risk possible. Examples of some of the risks associated with breast enlargement include infection, bleeding, blood clot, numbness and capsular contracture. We'll discuss your specific risks and how to avoid them.
