Hi, I’m Dr. Adam Basner. I’m a board-certified plastic surgeon in Baltimore, Maryland. Many patients, or many teenagers, inquire about what is the proper age or minimum age for a rhinoplasty. And rhinoplasty is nasal surgery to fix cosmetic issues. There is no exact age but it’s really a matter of development. You really want to wait until the teenager has largely stopped growing. For girls this is often younger than for boys. For girls it could be at the age of 15 or 16 if they started puberty earlier and they really stopped developing. For boys it’s usually a little bit later. It’s really done on an individual case-by-case basis, and typically the parent and the teenager knows themselves better than we would when they’ve stopped developing.
